“Calçotada”, what’s this?
The “calçotada” is a traditional meal in Catalonia which consists on eating a variety of sweet onions, the “calçots”, grilled directly on the flame and tasted with the famous “romesco” sauce. Afterwards, live coal is used to grill pieces of lamb and sausages. This meal is very popular and colloquial, and takes place from January to the beginning of spring. In Mas Carlons “calçotadas” are organized in front of the house in the middle of our vineyards surrounded by olive trees. A must!
